So after picking up TIG welding again I grew increasingly unhappy with the torch switch having to place your hand on the torch so you can actually reach the switch. My welding machine (Oerlikon Citig 1500 AC/DC) has 2 bana style terminal the torch switch connects to. So I had a plan an ordered a 6 euro foot switch that is normally used for a tatoo machine through ebay:

It comes with a jackphone style plug which obviously doesn’t connect to the welding machine.

But that is an easy fix. Cut off the connector

Strip the wires

Get two banana style connectors I had laying around

And connect them to the wires

Plug the result into the machine and you’re done!

For me it is a big improvement, it’s easier to use your foot to turn the power on and off and it gives me more ability to get the torch stable and closer to the metal 😊
