Having had my N97 for quite a while now, I’d thought I would write down a couple of things that might be usefull for other N97 users. PuttyMy favorite application for the N97, putty! The phone really shines with this app. You’ve got good resolution (106 x 27 characters) and the keyboard seperate from the phone makes this into a very good terminal combination. But while using it I also like to play mp3’s. However, with the latest version of sportstracker I found, the mp3 player would crash. Going one version back, the problem seems to disappear. Have now been using sportstracker v2.05 for months in combination with the mp3 player without a hitch. If you want to do anything with facebook, twitter, foursquare etc. this is a very good app. [mugen.jpg superscreenshot0001.jpg superscreenshot0002.jpg superscreenshot0003.jpg superscreenshot0004.jpg superscreenshot0005.jpg superscreenshot0006.jpg]![]() GoogasyncWhen trying to get my calendar synced with Google calendar, I used the nokia mail for exchange. Had no luck getting that working correctly. So I switched over to googasync. Once installed and configured, never had to look at it again, it just keeps on going. Works like a charm. [mugen.jpg superscreenshot0001.jpg superscreenshot0002.jpg superscreenshot0003.jpg superscreenshot0004.jpg superscreenshot0005.jpg superscreenshot0006.jpg]![]() BatteryNot a software thing, but important for longer uptimes of your phone if you use it heavily like me (bluetooth always on, either 3g or wlan active). With the new Mugen battery the capacity is up from 1500mAh to 1800mAh, without modification to the phone. You can even get a 3600mAh, but that will make the phone thicker. [mugen.jpg superscreenshot0001.jpg superscreenshot0002.jpg superscreenshot0003.jpg superscreenshot0004.jpg superscreenshot0005.jpg superscreenshot0006.jpg]![]() MiscTo disable the annoying camera focus and fake shutter noise it is enough to disable the warning tones in the profile you are using. It is at least with firmware v21, when using the v12 firmware I had to install some hack to be able to do this. With newer firmwares you can do easy copy and paste. Highlight the text, keep the shift key pressed and you will get copy & paste hotkeys. With newer firmwares, pressing a key for a longer period will give you the keys alternate character. With the newer firmwares (from v20), memory management is much improved, allowing to run multiple applications without problems. In the shot below, running gravity, sportstracker and mp3 player.
